Artist Bio

Lauren Smith has been surrounded by music throughout her life. Her early years involved singing in multiple school and community choirs, and taking private voice and piano lessons. She studied at Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at California State University Long Beach earning a Bachelor of Music degree in Choral-Vocal Music Education in 2014. While at CSULB, she studied voice with renowned vocal coach and author Dr. Katharine Rundus, refining her vocal instrument and knowledge of vocal pedagogy. She studied conducting with Dr. Jonathan Talberg and piano technique with Mark Uranker. Beforehand, she studied voice and conducting under the mentorship of Dr. Donald Brinegar at Pasadena City College. Her voice, conducting, and piano mentors have included Olga Perez Flora, Lori Marie Rios, and Desiree LaVertu.

After graduating university, she began performing with professional choirs around Southern California, including the Donald Brinegar Singers, Choral Arts Initiative, the California Phiharmonic Orchestra, Paul Delgado Singers, and the Los Angeles Bach Festival, all while continuing to teach private voice and piano lessons. She created and conducted her local children’s choir from 2014-2015.

Her music career has brought her to prestigious venues around the world, performing at Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Vatican, and Ambassador Auditorium, to name a few. She has spent time both on stage, and in the recording studio recording for movie soundtracks, album background vocals, and premiere works.

Teaching music to both children and adults has been a fulfilling and enjoyable lifelong journey.
